Selective Stream

Leppington High School is a partially selective high school. Selective high schools are one of the ways the NSW Department of Education supports high potential and gifted students. Students in selective classes learn alongside peers with similar academic abilities and are provided with opportunities for challenge, extension and academic excellence.

As a partially selective high school, we enrol both local students in comprehensive classes and students who gain entry through the selective high school placement process. Students in the selective stream will typically study together in their core subjects while benefiting from the wider opportunities and inclusive culture of the whole school.

Our selective stream is complemented by a strong whole-school commitment to High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE), ensuring that all students have access to opportunities that develop their strengths, interests and talents.

You can apply for a selective high school place even if Leppington High School is outside your local enrolment area. Admission to the selective stream is determined through the NSW selective high school placement process.
