How to enrol

Every child has the right to access quality public education in their local community. If you live in our local intake area, start your journey to join our vibrant school community today. Follow these key steps:

1. Check your eligibility:  use School Finder to confirm if your address is within our local intake area.
2. Read:  enrolment details for our school.
3. Apply online:  complete our online enrolment application.

Selective School Enrolment

To enrol in a selective high school students must meet all NSW Department of Education enrolment conditions – learn more at Enrolment.

Parents and carers will be notified by email when their child’s outcome notification is available in the application dashboard (Selective high school and opportunity class placement)

For selective high school Year 7 entry, once an offer is accepted, parents and carers will receive an email to complete an online enrolment.

Siblings are not guaranteed a place at Leppington High School because they have a sibling in the selective class. Where siblings of students placed in a school with a partially selective high school are not in the catchment area for that school, parents and carers may apply for out-of-area enrolment at that school. There is no guarantee that the application will be successful.

Who can apply?

Parents and carers can apply for placement if their child is in:

• NSW public schools

• non-government schools

• home study

• interstate schools

• overseas schools

Selective High School application process

The application process for entry into Years 8 to 11 at NSW selective high schools differs from the Year 7 process. Each selective school manages its own vacancies, assessments, and placement decisions.

Students can apply for entry in Years 8 to 11 at all types of selective high schools.

Selection Outcomes

Selection committees assess applications based on academic performance as demonstrated in their application, and if applicable through testing. They may:

• offer a place

• add a student to the reserve list

• advise if a student was unsuccessful.

Note: Reserve lists apply only for that school year and may close after Term 2.

If you receive an offer from a school, please reply as soon as you can. If you do not accept within the time mentioned in your offer letter, you may lose your offer. If the offer is made by phone, you must accept or decline your offer within 24 hours.

School contributions

In NSW public schools, all financial contributions are voluntary. Every student has full access to the curriculum, regardless of whether contributions are made.
